Esté has been sporting beautiful clothing items from one of her favourite local designers, Amanda Laird Cherry, for the past two seasons. After spotting the exquisite pieces at The Space in Cavendish, she was taken with the outstanding quality and uniqueness of every garment. The wonderful ALC team has been so kind to gift her with a few items a season, and since she has never felt better and more stylish on stage. Being comfortable is important to Esté, but at the same time she won’t compromise on quality and supporting locally made products. She had a little chat with Amanda to find out more about her clothing business.
How would you describe a proud representative of ALC clothing?
The Amanda Laird Cherry woman is conscious about where her clothes come from and who makes them, and she likes buying local. She enjoys garments that are wearable but with a twist, and is adventurous without being outrageous. She appreciates style that relates to the South African aesthetic and climate.
What sets your brand apart from other local brands on the market?
We are an established South African designer label and have been in business for 20 years. We pride ourselves on offering quality, designer apparel at reasonable prices. For years, Amanda has worked with local crafters and skills-building organisations to collaborate on products that can be tangibly produced and sold. The business model of The Space is that every designer supplying the store is required to produce their garments in South Africa.
